Frequently asked questions.
How do I book a photography session?
Booking your photography session with Lore de Cosio Photography is simple. You can reserve your date directly through my online booking link.
To secure your session date, you will need to:
Complete a photography contract
Pay the required session retainer
Once your session is officially booked, you will receive a confirmation email with everything you need to prepare for your photography experience, including:
Outfit guidance and styling tips for your family, maternity, newborn, or portrait session
Location recommendations throughout Rochester Hills, Metro Detroit, and surrounding areas
Helpful preparation tips to make your session relaxed and enjoyable
One week before your session, you will receive a reminder and we will finalize your session details, including the selected location, if it has not already been confirmed.
If you have a specific location in mind, please let me know as early as possible. Some parks, venues, and private properties require photography permits, reservations, or additional location fees. Any required permits, admission fees, or location fees are not included in your session investment and are the responsibility of the client.
My goal is to help you choose a location that fits your family’s style while ensuring we have the proper permissions and enough time to create beautiful, natural images.
How long is my photography session?
Your session time begins at the scheduled start time and includes the time available for photographing your family at the selected location. Sessions are designed to capture a variety of natural moments, interactions, and portraits within the scheduled timeframe.
Please plan accordingly for arrival, parking, walking from parking areas, restroom breaks, outfit changes, and getting settled before your session begins. The session end time remains the same even if delays occur before or during the session.
How many locations are included in my photography session?
Each photography session includes one selected location. This allows us to use our time intentionally and create a relaxed experience while capturing meaningful images without rushing from place to place.
Travel time between locations, finding parking, walking, loading and unloading equipment, and relocating during a session all reduce the actual time available for photography.
If you would like to include multiple locations, additional time may be added to your session and will be quoted based on the locations requested.
Can we choose our own photography location?
Yes! I love working with families to choose locations that feel meaningful to them. You are welcome to select a location, or I can recommend Rochester Hills and Metro Detroit locations that photograph beautifully.
Please note that some parks, venues, and private properties require photography permits or additional fees. Any required permits, location fees, reservations, or permissions are the responsibility of the client and must be arranged before the session.
What happens if my chosen location requires a photography permit?
Some locations require professional photographers to obtain a permit or pay a photography fee. If your selected location requires approval, the client is responsible for contacting the location and covering any required fees.
A session cannot be moved or extended due to missing permits, location restrictions, or denied access.
I recommend checking location requirements before booking your session date.
What if we arrive late to our session?
Your session time is reserved specifically for you. If you arrive late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time so that I can stay on schedule for other clients.
Please consider traffic, parking availability, walking distance from parking areas, and time needed to prepare before your session begins.
What happens if my child is not cooperating during the session?
Children are unpredictable, and I always encourage families to allow their children to be themselves. My approach focuses on connection, play, and genuine expressions rather than forced smiles.
However, the scheduled session time remains the same, and additional time cannot be added due to children needing extra time to warm up, refusing photographs, or being unwilling to participate.
Can we add extra time to our session?
Yes, additional time may be available depending on my schedule. Extra time must be requested and approved before or during booking.
Additional time may be needed for extended sessions, multiple locations, larger groups, or special requests.
What locations do you photograph at?
I photograph families, children, maternity, newborn, seniors, and branding sessions throughout Rochester Hills and the Metro Detroit area.
I have a selection of locations that work beautifully for lifestyle photography, including outdoor parks, natural settings, and meaningful family locations. Location recommendations are based on lighting, accessibility, and the style of images you want to create.
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
If the forecast isn’t looking great, I’ll reach out a day or two before to talk about backup plans. We can reschedule, move to a covered outdoor location, or switch to an in-home session if that works for you. Weather in Michigan can change quickly, so I stay flexible!
What if I or my kids get sick?
Life happens, especially with little ones! If someone gets sick or there's an emergency, we can absolutely reschedule. Just let me know as soon as you can.
Please note that all rescheduled sessions must take place within the same calendar year.
How do newborn and Fresh 48 sessions work with due dates?
For newborn sessions, I schedule based on your due date and hold space in my calendar around that time. Once your baby arrives, just send me a message and we’ll finalize the session date and time based on how you and baby are doing.
Fresh 48 sessions take place within 48 hours after birth, typically at the hospital or birth center. Please notify me as soon as baby is born so we can plan accordingly.
What’s included in the session?
Each session type includes a set number of edited, high-resolution digital images delivered via a private online gallery.
You can find full details on each session type here.
Extra family members (over 6) can be added for $50 per person.
What happens after the session?
I carefully select and professionally edit the best images from your session. You’ll receive your private gallery within 2–3 weeks, where you can download your photos and order professional prints if you wish.
Additional digital images can be purchased if you fall in love with more than your included set (it happens often!).
Do you offer prints or albums?
Yes! Your gallery is connected to a professional lab, making it easy to order high-quality prints, albums, and wall art. These make beautiful gifts or keepsakes for your home.
Please note: Prints are not included in your session.
I still have questions, how can I reach you?
Feel free to send me a message anytime at hello@loredecosiophotography.com or reply to your confirmation email. I’m always happy to help you feel fully prepared.
